# How to Play Texas Hold'em

These are the rules PokerFS tables use. Blinds are 5 and 10. Chips and crystals have no cash value.

## The table

PokerFS plays no-limit Texas Hold'em as a cash game. The small blind is 5 and the big blind is 10. Each table sets its own minimum and maximum buy-in.

There are no antes, straddles, bomb pots, or running it twice. There are no tournament levels or payouts.

## The cards

A hand uses one 52-card deck. There are no jokers. Each player who is dealt in gets two hole cards. Community cards come out as the flop (three cards), the turn (one card), and the river (one card).

Your hand is the best five cards from your two hole cards and the five community cards.

## Hand rankings

Highest first:

- Royal flush
- Straight flush
- Four of a kind
- Full house
- Flush
- Straight
- Three of a kind
- Two pair
- One pair
- High card

Aces are high, except in the wheel (A-2-3-4-5), which is a five-high straight. Kickers break ties. If the best five cards tie, the pot is split.

## Button and blinds

The dealer button moves one seat clockwise each hand. With three or more players, the small blind sits left of the button and the big blind sits left of the small blind. Preflop, the first to act is left of the big blind. After the flop, the first to act is left of the button.

Heads-up, the button posts the small blind and acts first preflop. The other player posts the big blind and acts first after the flop.

## Betting

On each street you may fold, check when you have matched the current bet, call, or raise. The smallest opening bet and the smallest full raise are one big blind (10). After a full raise, the next full raise must be at least as large as that raise.

Putting in every remaining chip is an all-in. It is allowed even when it is less than a full raise. A short all-in does not reopen betting for a player who has already acted.

## Pots and showdown

Each chip stays in the layer of the bet that paid it. A bigger stack can only lose, to a short all-in, as many chips as that player put in. Anything above that is returned or goes to a side pot the short stack cannot win.

If you are the only player who has not folded, you win immediately. If nobody left can be bet into, the rest of the board is dealt and the hands are shown.

## Who is dealt in

Only players with chips at the start of a hand are dealt cards. A player who joins during a hand waits until the next deal. A player with zero chips after the hand is out of the table until they buy back in.
